CoM: CIAO! TODAY WE’RE INTERVIEWING MASK MAKER, IVA AJDUK.

CoM: IVA, WHEN DID YOU GET INTRODUCED TO VENICE ITALY’S CARNEVALE?

IA: I must have been a little girl when I found out about it because it seems like I've known about it forever!

CoM: WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CARNEVALE?

IA: The colors, the elegance, the extravaganza.

CoM: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE CARNEVALE TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER BEEN?

IA: The long tradition of celebrating the many beautiful faces we can wear on these days, allowing us to feel something different.

CoM: TELL US ABOUT YOUR MASKS.

IA: I create masks, inspired by the swirling lines and the dramatic expressions of the Carnevale faces. I have been drawing faces since little girl, and those images in my mind have recently found their expression in masks that I design digitally, then hand-paint. The masks pictured here are water themed.

I’m not officially tied to Carnevale yet, but I would very much like to be. I would love to connect to and work with people who are interested in my masks and the aesthetics I can offer. You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, and Etsy as "Maglava Maska".

CoM: ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH US?

IA: This will be my first year in attendance. I’m looking forward having this long lasting dream come true. It’s my goal to be more involved in the community and find more like-minded artists!
