CoM: CIAO! TODAY WE’RE INTERVIEWING CARNEVALE PHOTOGRAPHER, REINHOLD KROSSA.

CoM: REINHOLD, HOW DID YOU FIRST LEARN ABOUT CARNEVALE IN VENICE, ITALY?

RK: My first encounter with the Venice Carnival was in 2010 when I gave my wife, Rita, this trip as a gift. We were both immediately thrilled and my wife said that next time she would like to participate in costume and mask with me as a photographer. From then on, we went to the Venice Carnival for a week almost every year except during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CoM: WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CARNEVALE?

RK: At Carnevale in Venice, you see the most beautiful masks and costumes from all over the world in front of historic buildings. And every time you meet many friends from all over the world. Meanwhile, it is a Venetian Family. I love meeting these friends and I love this special atmosphere. It is amazing.

CoM: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE CARNEVALE TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER BEEN?

RK: The city of Venice is one of the most beautiful places in the world and Carnevale is a very special event. Everyone should see it at least once. But be careful, it could become an addiction!

CoM: TELL US ABOUT YOUR CARNEVALE BUSINESS.

RK: I have already held some exhibitions with photos of the Venetian Carnevale. At one of them we "brought the masks to life". Some of our friends came to this exhibition in mask and costume.

The visitors were thrilled. The organizer asked us to repeat this event. So we did another one in 2024. At this exhibition, in the two event rooms of the Wohnzimmer GE came so many guests that some couldn't get in!

Now, I am thinking to create a book about Venice and Venetian Carnevale with some photos.
